The Immersive Lab

Step inside Oxford and Cambridge.

We create tailor-made immersive learning experiences inside two of the world's greatest universities — for schools, tour operators, and organisations that believe the environment shapes the thinking.

Pembroke College, Cambridge
What Is TIL

These universities shaped how the world thinks. We build programmes that let you understand why — from the inside.

The Immersive Lab creates fully tailored academic programmes inside the colleges, seminar rooms, and libraries of Oxford and Cambridge. Every experience is built around genuine intellectual encounter: not what these institutions look like, but how they reason, what they have discovered, and what it means to be part of a tradition that has shaped modern thought.

Our founders read here. That means alumni relationships, college access, and a first-hand understanding of what makes Oxford and Cambridge intellectually distinctive — and how to make that legible and transformative for your group.

"To work inside these colleges is to encounter, viscerally, what sustained intellectual ambition looks and feels like. We built The Immersive Lab so that students, professionals, and leaders from anywhere in the world can have that encounter — and leave having genuinely thought differently."

Who We Serve

Three audiences. One standard of intellectual rigour.

Every programme is built around your specific goals, your participants, and the ideas you want them to leave with. The format changes. The quality of thinking does not.

Tour Operators

The academic substance your itinerary is built around.

You bring the group. We design and deliver the intellectual core of your Oxford or Cambridge day — workshops, college access, and scholarly facilitation that operators cannot easily source independently. Your clients leave having genuinely learned something, not just photographed somewhere.

  • A repeatable academic programme your clients will cite long after the trip
  • College access and workshop content unavailable to external operators
  • Scholarly facilitation grounded in real academic experience, not scripted tours
  • Designed to sit at the intellectual heart of your wider itinerary

Schools

An intellectual encounter that shifts what students think is possible.

We design programmes that place students inside the academic culture of Oxford and Cambridge — not as tourists, but as thinkers. Intellectually demanding, age-appropriate, and built around your students' subjects and aspirations. The aim is not a day out. It is a change in how students understand their own potential.

  • Facilitated academic workshops designed for genuine intellectual challenge
  • Honest insight into university life from current students and scholars
  • Museum visits, college walks, and river tours grounded in the history of ideas
  • A setting that makes academic ambition feel concrete and attainable

Organisations

Remove your team from their usual context. Put them somewhere that demands different thinking.

For business schools, sustainability institutes, and professional development programmes. We create academic experiences that use Oxford and Cambridge as intellectual instruments — not as backdrops. Facilitated by subject-matter experts, grounded in research, and designed to generate the kind of thinking participants carry back into their institutions.

We work with:

  • Business schools running executive education and MBA study tours
  • Sustainability institutes and climate-focused research organisations
  • Corporate leadership and professional development programmes
  • Innovation and futures-thinking teams seeking rigorous academic input
  • Government bodies and professional delegations

What We Offer

What a TIL programme is made of.

Every programme draws from these elements — selected and sequenced around the intellectual goals you bring to us.

Academic Workshops

Facilitated seminars on AI and ethics, sustainability, Oxbridge preparation, leadership, and futures thinking. Each session is written for your group — not repurposed from a template, not recycled from last month.

Guest Speakers

Academics, researchers, and practitioners matched to your theme and sector. They come prepared for your specific group, not with a standing talk. The conversation is the point.

College Access & Venues

Seminar rooms and dining halls inside historic colleges, secured through our alumni relationships. Working where Newton worked, where Darwin studied — the setting carries intellectual weight that no conference room replicates.

Punting on the River Cam

Guided tours along the Cam with scholarly narration — the colleges, their histories, the discoveries made within them. Less sightseeing; more understanding what you are looking at and why it matters.

Museum & Heritage Tours

Guided visits to Cambridge's research museums — from Darwin's specimens at the Zoology Museum to the Whipple's history of scientific instruments. Discovery explained in its original context.

Formal Hall Dining

Dinner in a historic college dining hall — under portraits of scholars, in a space where the tradition of intellectual conversation is entirely unselfconscious. Available for residential programmes. The discussion it generates tends to outlast the evening.

The Process

From first conversation to the day itself.

Tell us about your group

Share your participants, intellectual aims, dates, and any specific themes or disciplines. We respond within 48 hours.

We design your programme

A fully tailored academic itinerary — workshops, speakers, venues, and sequencing — presented as a clear proposal with transparent costings.

We handle all delivery

College bookings, speaker preparation, catering, and on-the-day academic facilitation. You focus on your participants.

Something shifts

Students leave more academically ambitious. Professionals leave having thought differently. Delegations leave with a shared intellectual reference point that lasts.

Why TIL

The access and scholarly relationships are the foundation.

What we offer cannot be replicated by operators building their own Oxbridge programme from scratch. Our founders read here — that insider knowledge is the foundation everything else rests on.

Alumni access & college relationships

Our founders read at Cambridge. That relationship means college venues and scholarly access that external operators cannot replicate.

Scholarly rigour at the core

Workshops are designed by people who have sat in these seminars, not by event producers. Participants feel the difference within the first hour.

Genuinely tailored, every time

We do not run off-the-shelf programmes. Every experience is designed around your group's specific intellectual goals, participants, and context.

One team, from design to delivery

From initial conversation through to the day itself, you work with one team. The people who designed your programme are the people who deliver it.
